For Unto Us a Child Is Born and a Song for Sunday

Joy to the World

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

  Sing Laugh clap-your-hands
Shout-for-joy Give-Praise
Applaud exult proclaim
Take-cheer FEAR-NOT
 Be-joyous be-glad celebrate
Delight-in-what-God-has-done
REJOICE IN GREAT ABUNDANCE,
       For the manger holds a lad.
Justice seeks his guidance,
And mercy his command.
Let your heart invite his residence,
And your years his guiding hand.

  1. I look forward to your Sunday posts and see which songs you post. There is a ton of wonderful hymns available and this one is one of the greatest.

  2. I can't get past "For unto us a child is born" because we practiced it yesterday and now that high tenor part is running around in my brain.
